Bonnie R. Brooks, 76, of Greenville passed away April 2, 2013, at Legend Health Care. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Samuel Glenn officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born July 6, 1936, in Garrison, Bonnie was the daughter of Emil F. and Mamie L. (Nix) Christopher. On April 13, 1957, in Houston, she married George Brooks. Bonnie worked in the cafeteria at Bowie Elementary School for 13 years. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.
Her survivors include her husband, George of Greenville; son Howard Brooks and wife Kathy of Greenville; grandchildren Jennifer Crossley and Sara Phillips and husband Josh; great-grandchildren Cade Crossley, Grant Phillips, and Harley Phillips, all of Greenville; brothers Gerald, Jim, and Don Christopher, all of Houston; sister Betty Elizabeth Hutson of Little Rock, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters-in-law Phyllis and Barbara Christopher.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Phillips, Scott Smith, Tracy Fleshner, Clay Stevens, Josh Phillips, and Aaron Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob and Martha Parsons.
