Charles M. Smith, 78, of Greenville passed away Oct. 30, 2013, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Paul Blue and Joe Knight officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born Oct. 29, 1935, in McKinney, Charles was the son of Carl and Bessie V. (Younce) Smith.
On July 3, 1964, in Greenville, he married Nancy Candacy (Candy) Coppedge. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from A.T.&T. He was also a cattleman and loved his farm. Charles was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge.
His survivors include his sons, Chuck Smith of Greenville and Bill Smith of Dallas; daughters Jeannie Carter and husband Allen and Alanna Smith, all of Greenville; grandchildren Hunter Smith, Braeden Smith, Cameron Carter and Garrett Brooks; brother Larry Smith and wife Carolyn of Plano and their children, Blaine Smith and Paige and Andrew Martin and son Asher; and sisters Juanita and Mavineen.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2010; parents; and two brothers, John and Carl Smith.
Pallbearers will be George Shields, Todd Turner, Hunter Smith, Kody Crumpton, Jeff Willingham and Aaron Brooks. His Circle B coffee crew will be honorary pallbearers.
