Mattie Josephine “Josie” Scarbrough McGee, 58, of Lone Oak was called home on July 18, 2013.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Cook and Mr. John Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Mattie Josephine Scarbrough on March 5, 1955, to Forest Lee and Dorothy Walls Scarbrough in Greenville. She grew up in the Battle Axe Community and graduated from Greenville High School in 1973.
She married Jerry McGee on June 28, 1974, and together they have three children; Jennifer, Jana and Jeremy.
She worked and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone/AT&T for 27 years. She was a member of the Blackland Pioneers where she helped with several organizations and Clothe-a-Child. She was also a board member with CASA in Greenville for two years. She also volunteered with the Lone Oak FFA Booster Club for many years.
She was a faithful member of Wieland Church of Christ.
She was very family-oriented. Her happiest moments were spending time with her family and being Nana to her grandbabies.
Josie is survived by husband Jerry; daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer and Scott Ragsdale and Jana and John Dooley, all of Lone Oak; a son and daughter in-law, Jeremy and Kendra McGee of Garland; grandchildren Allen and Faith Ragsdale and Justin and Jaylan Dooley, all of Lone Oak, and Aubrey McGee of Garland.
She is also survived by her sisters, Patsy Stapleton and Jean Martin and husband Phillip Martin, all of Greenville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hoyt Scarbrough.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Pippin, Charles Scarbrough, Clay Payne, Louis Martinez, Artie Cook and Clay Pullen. Honorary pallbearers will be John Williams, Wes Richardson and Jimmy Jenkins.
