Velma Loretta Brandon, 95, passed away April 3, 2013, in Georgetown. A graveside service is at at 2 p.m today at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rev Byron Myrick officiating with visitation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Born March 22, 1918, in Royse City, she was the daughter of Orange Wilson Sr. and Bertie (Johnson) Wilson. Velma graduated from Royse City High School in 1936.
On Dec. 24,1939, she married Jack Brandon. She worked as a hairdresser in Greenville for many years and went to work for LTV (now Raytheon) in 1958 until she retired. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Greenville. Velma moved to Georgetown in January 2006 to be near her son and daughter-in-law and family.
She is survived by a son, Jack Brandon and daughter-in-law Sylvia Brandon; granddaughter Kimberly Uyechi and husband Doug; grandson Greg Brandon and wife Cheryl; two great-grandsons, Keoni and Jaaron Uyechi; brother-in-law William Scruggs; sister-in-law Peggy Brandon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Dollie Wilson Dowell; four brothers, Otis Wilson, Milton Wilson, Orange Wilson Jr, and Raymond Wilson; husband Jack Brandon Sr.; and grandson Brian Brandon.
