Sam Ethridge

Sam Ethridge, 94, of Tyler, formerly of Greenville, passed away Feb. 18, 2014, at Briarcliff Health Center in Tyler. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Mr. Frank Morgan and Mr. Randy Daw officiating.  Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home.

Born Jan. 26, 1920, in Campbell, Sam was the son of Anderson Duke and Lily (White) Ethridge. On Dec. 25, 1941, in Cumby, he married Marjorie Taylor.

He was raised on a farm in the Caney Community and continued to farm there until they moved to Greenville in 1948. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 34 years.

Mr. Ethridge was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ in Tyler. 

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Tyler; son A.D. Ethridge of Palestine; daughter Jean Parish of Tyler; grandchildren Rob Parish, Holly Parish, Sam Ethridge, Chris Ethridge, Katie Ethridge, and Brittani Handorf; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by grandson, Andy Parish, his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Rob Parish, Sam Ethridge, Chris Ethridge, Grant Jonas, John Paul Willabay, and Ferrell Nalls.

The family request memorials be made to Johnson Street Church of Christ Youth Group.
