Loy Helen Brookins

Loy Helen Brookins, 82, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2013, at her home in Lone Oak with family by her side.

Loy Helen was born in Lone Oak on Sept. 22, 1930, to Willie and Leslie Daughety. She was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church and was a dedicated employee there for 33 years.

She was also an employee of Lone Oak Independent School District for more than 32 years.

Loy Helen was well-known and respected by the community, had a kind and loving heart and was always willing to help somebody, no matter how well she knew them.

Her home was a revolving door to family and friends and she enjoyed passing along her love and wisdom to anybody she met.

Loy Helen enjoyed sewing, quilting and playing the piano, but the thing that brought her the most joy in life was taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brookins.

She is survived by her children, Norman Brookins of Greenville; Jackie (Brookins) Whyte and Mike Whyte of Longview; grandchildren Normanda (Brookins) Gibson and Cliff Gibson, Jake Brookins and Brandi Brookins of Greenville, as well as Brandon Brookins of Longview; great-grandchildren Nathan Gibson, Carter Gibson, Jolie Ruddick, Baylie Brookins of Greenville and Zoey Nowlin of Longview.

Pallbearers are Jake Brookins, Brandon Brookins, Cliff Gibson, Nathan Gibson, Jeff Maynor and Charles Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Carter Gibson, Jimmy Fortenberry, Troy Haynes and Eddie White.

Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville and a celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a graveside service to follow at Hall Cemetery in Lone Oak.
