Frank Miller

Frank Henslee Miller was born June 14, 1952, in Dallas and died April 27, 2013, in Paris, Texas.

Growing up in the Northeast Texas town of Cooper, he spent his childhood learning the strong work ethics of his parents’ generation.

His enduring love of people, animals, nature and the inter-relationship of God and the universe would go on to serve him well throughout his adult life.

After graduating from Cooper High School, he attended The University of Texas where he received a B.B.A in business administration. Upon graduation, he returned home to Cooper so he could begin working in the family businesses.

Throughout his life, he was invested in all aspects of The Boy Scouts of America, beginning with Cub Scouts and continuing onto his service with the board.

The importance of the principles and traditions that scouting imparts upon a young man, which he experienced in his own life, were values instilled by The Boy Scouts of America.

Over the years he spent countless hours volunteering for the NETSEO Trails Council. Camp Dierks benefited from his efforts in further developing the facility enjoyed by so many. As a result of his continued service, he was honored with the “Silver Beaver” award.

Frank was associated with various businesses, including The Delta Bank, The First National Bank of Cooper, Cooper Propane, Delta Logistics, and Red River Transport.

He truly loved the people whom he worked with and tried to foster an environment of cooperation for the purpose of reflecting values such as self-respect, determination, and loyalty to others, which were values he strongly believed in himself.

Frank instilled these principles at his workplace so that those he worked with would know they could count on him like family. As an original Texan, his word was bond and his handshake was contract.

Frank enjoyed a lifetime passion with animal husbandry, most specifically Brahman cattle.  As a child he showed cattle for the FFA and 4-H, and in his adult-life he showed his “darlings” to anyone that happened to be at his house.

This often included a lazy, unnerving ride around the pasture on his favorite bull, Wooly Bully.

He found solace in the years of hard work put into developing the land that he lived on and loved. Every evening he could be found there with a tool in his hand enjoying the squawking of his gaggle of geese in the background.

As a lifelong member of the Methodist church, initially in Cooper, he later served in a multitude of capacities at the First United Methodist Church of Paris, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Quentin and Catherine Miller of Cooper.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Stacy; children Quentin Stevens Miller and wife Preeyalak of Nederland, Colo., and Atticus Franklin Miller, Chase Nation, and Jessica Holtman and husband Gary, all of Paris; and sisters Judy Falls and husband Sam of Cooper and Jan Phillips of Houston.

A service remembering his life was at 6 p.m., April 30, at The Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home located in Paris, Texas for visitation. Memorial services will be at The First United Methodist Church, 303 Lamar Avenue, Paris, Texas, at 2 p.m. today, May 1. A graveside service will follow at Long Cemetery in Powderly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 995 Paris, 75460, The First United Methodist Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 327 Paris, 75461, The Delta County Public Library, 300 West Dallas, Cooper, 75432, and The Charleston United Methodist Church, 4037 Farm Road 895, Cooper, 75432.
