WOLFE CITY —
Columbus Delbert “C.D.” Giddiens of Grapevine, former Wolfe City resident, passed away May 7, 2014, at Stoneybrook Nursing Center in Grapevine.
Mr. Giddiens was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Bailey to Ferrell B. Giddiens and Myrtle Jewel Woodruff Giddiens. He married Blanche H. Caddell in Vernon on July 30, 1947.
Mr. Giddiens was a full-service filling station operator and owner in both Grapevine and Wolfe City. He joined the army at the age of 16 and was sent to the Philippines Campaign and transferred to the European Campaign in Italy, France and Germany. He left the Army with the rank of tech sergeant.
Survivors are four daughters, Jean Soderberg and husband Mel, Virginia Thomas and husband Charles, Patsy Crabtree and husband Roger and Judy Williams and husband Allan; one sister, Joyce Grubbs and husband Sam; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Giddiens will be at the First Baptist Church in Wolfe City at 2 p.m. today, May 10, with Bro. Tim Hearn officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City. Military Honors will be presented at the graveside by U.S. Army.
Pallbearers are Rob Crabtree, Grady Carpenter, Keith Witt, Sean Williams, Donald Staton and Ron Lang.
R.W. Owens and Son Funeral Home of Wolfe City is in charge of arrangements.
