'Jack' McPherson

David Jackson “Jack” McPherson of Duncanville and formerly of Greenville, passed away March 6, 2014 in Cedar Hill.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Aldersgate Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, with Rev. Ralph Anderson and Rev. Bob Bush officiating.

Visitation will be at the church after the service.

Born Dec. 11, 1932 in Farmersville, Jack was the son of Coleman Jennings McPherson and and Bertha (Jackson) McPherson. On Sept. 1, 1956 in Greenville, he married Durelle Inglish; she preceded him in death in 1999.  He married Barbara Seaman in 2008. 

Jack was a retired program manager from Raytheon after 42 years of service. He was active in Daybreak Rotary, Greenville Citizens Police Academy, Airport Advisory Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, Greenville Tennis Association, an active member of Oak Creek Country Club, and was a volunteer to drive cancer patients to Dallas for chemo treatments.

Jack was a member of Aldersgate Church. He was one of the seven founding families that also includes the families of Hew Hamilton (representing his father Ham Hamilton), Larry Hollon, Glen Steed, Frank Marion, Ray Harmon, and John Christian.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Duncanville; daughters Sheryl K. Ethridge and husband, Kriss of Oak Hill, VA and Karen McBride and husband, Steve of Dallas; sister Reba Smith of Athens; grandchildren Katherine McBride Foxall and husband, Shawn, Greggory McBride, Kristen Ethridge and Gillian Ethridge; and great-grandchild Taylor Foxall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Steed, Frank Marion, Hew Hamilton, Larry Hollon, Charlie Hartford, Tom Petersen, Susan Cotten, Ray Harmon, John Christian, and John Clark.

The family request memorials be made to OC International Ministries or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
