Archie Walden

COMMERCE — Archie Leon Walden 86, of Commerce, died Dec. 23, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Commerce Church of Christ under the direction of Commerce Funeral Home. Joel Shelton will officiate.

Burial will follow at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie.

Leon was born in Dallas County on March 16, 1927. He was the son of Charlie Jackson and Lula Mae Davis Walden.  He married Wanda Roletta Norman on August 29, 1948 in Greenville.

Leon was a volunteer fireman for Commerce in the 50’s and 60’s.  He was an Elder of Commerce Church of Christ for 20-plus years.  He owned and operated Leon’s Heating and Air for 40-plus years.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Roletta; son and daughter-in-law Eric and Lydia Walden of Commerce; two daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and Warren Logan of Kalispel, Mont. and Sara and Randy McFarland of Scroggins, Texas; four sisters: Edna O’Quinn of Commerce, Patsy Kelly of Commerce, Peggy Wheat of Denison, Charlene Alexander of Sachse; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Camp Deer Run, 1227 County Road 4590 Winnsboro, 75494 and Commerce Church of Christ, 1900 Culver, Commerce, 75428.
