Ruth Morrison

SULPHUR SPRINGS — Ruth Morrison was born Feb. 22, 1943, in Shreveport La., to Olena B. Wade and Thomas E. Schneider. She passed away April 21, 2013, in Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Morrison; a stepson, Gary Morrison; grandson Clay Rogers; brother Billie Schneider; sister Mary Fulton; two children, Robert Huggett and wife Jenise and Rachelle Rogers and husband Brad; four grandchildren, Rob, Clanay, Kenzi, and Kaden; two great-grandchildren, Cadence and Allie; a sister, Elsie Harrison; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Ruth spent the majority of her working career in the Texas Public School System ensuring quality food and nutritional programs for our children. She loved working with and providing service to the students and genuinely loved her occupation.

She never met a stranger, even the people in the checkout line after shopping became like family. Boy, will we miss these moments.

She was always good for a laugh no matter the situation. Her zest for life was infectious and she always picked up those around her who might be down.

Ruth loved getting dressed up and amassed quite a collection of jewelry and apparel, which we often joked resulted in many record volume years of profit for Beall’s, Walmart and local merchants.

That hearty humor, quick smile, Texas “twang” and deep love for her family will be missed.  Ruthie has left a legion of friends who were also such an important part of her life.

The world was a better place to have had her among us for 70 years. We love you and will miss you dearly — until we are together again!!

A visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, which is in charge of cremation arrangements..
