Rev. Robert Baldridge

GREENVILLE — Rev. Robert William Baldridge, 89, of Stephenville (formerly of Greenville) passed away June 22, 2013, in Seattle, Wash. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Royce Measures and Rev. Bob Layman officiating. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Clairette Cemetery near Hico. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, Greenville.

Born March 15, 1924, in Honey Grove, Robert was the son of Dewey Raymond and Roxiejunell (Williamson) Baldridge. On Aug. 26, 1949, in Greenville, he married Martha Jo Williams. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University-Commerce (formerly East Texas State) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific on a minesweeper.

He was a retired Baptist minister serving in numerous churches that included Old Concord Baptist Church and White Rock Baptist Church in Hunt County, Antioch Baptist Church in Cooper, First Baptist Church in Bells, First Baptist Church in Royse City, King Memorial Baptist Church in McKinney, Parkview Baptist Church in Plainview, Copeville Baptist Church in Copeville, Harvey Baptist Church in Stephenville, and Faith Temple Baptist Church in Terrell. He retired as the associate pastor at Highland Terrace Baptist Church in Greenville.

After retiring, he served as interim pastor in numerous churches. He was currently a member of Harvey Baptist Church in Stephenville. He was also a member of the Stephenville American Legion Post 240 in Stephenville.

His survivors include daughter Joetta Phillips and husband Charlie of Mesquite; son David Baldridge of Stephenville; grandchildren Ross Baldridge and wife Heather of Athens, Abby Baldridge of Dallas, Sawyer Baldridge of Stephenville, and Hannah Phillips of Lubbock; great-grandson Clark Baldridge; and ex-daughter-in-law Cyndee Baldridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Ralph Baldridge, and grandson Chas Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Ross Baldridge, Heather Baldridge, Abby Baldridge, Sawyer Baldridge, Hannah Phillips, and Eric Richardson.
