Mt. Pleasant —
RT “T-Bone” Mondy was born March 9, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant to the parentage of the late Artis Buster Mondy and Precious Jewell Johnson-Mondy. He attended school in Mt. Pleasant and in Neylandville. RT was the proud, productive and active owner of “RT’s Construction” for many years until his health started to fail. Yet, he still had a desire to work, so he was hired at Moss Construction in Wylie until the closing of the company.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist, where he was a part of the inspirational choir and male chorus. RT’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of his kind spirit and zest for life will live on through them. RT passed away peacefully on June 17, 2013, after a valiant struggle with leukemia with his wife by his side. The two of them had a loving and caring relationship based on mutual support and a deep love for each other.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Bettye Mondy of Farmersville; sons Raymond Mondy of Farmersville, Cornell Mondy (Carin) of Dallas, and Derrick Mondy (Tashondra) of Plano; two daughters, De’Keidra Brigham “Nikki” of Greenville and Gwendolyn Emory of Terrell; the joys of his life, Desha, Broderick, Christian, Brandon and Lincoln Mondy, Jaquon Fisher, A’Kyree and A’Madre Jones and Samyria Mondy; four brothers, Billy (Eddie) Mondy and Roy Mondy (Shirley) both of Farmersville, Artis Mondy of Richardson and Lawrence Mondy (Vivian) of Dallas; seven sisters, Charlie R. Clark of Farmersville, Vernell Darden of Garland, Verniece Linwood (Rosco), Doris Mondy, Annette Stiggers, Beverly Redwine and Esther Darden, all of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins and other relatives.
He rejoins his loved ones — his father, Artis Buster Mondy; his mother, Precious J. Mondy; the mother of his sons, Bertha E. Mondy; and brother Varice Mondy.
