John Hood

GREENVILLE — John Lawrence Hood passed away Sept. 18, 2013, in Greenville at the age of 77.

He was born in San Antonio on April 30, 1936. John grew up in San Antonio and served in both the United States Navy and Coast Guard. He worked as an aircraft mechanic and maintenance controller at Braniff Airways from 1967 to 1982. From 1982 until 1998 he worked at E-Systems/Raytheon in Greenville where he retired as the liaison manager to the FAA.

He is survived by his former spouse, Ann Heffernan Hood; two daughters, Cheri Pettit of Woodstown, N.J., and  Cynthia Bingheim of Flower Mound; two sons, Michael Hood of Round Rock and Thomas Hood of Quinlan; a brother, Bill Hood; and 10

grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by granddaughter Rhiannon Hood.

The family will be conducting private services.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
