Bertie Roberts

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertie Mae Roberts, 85, of Gober will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gober Baptist Church. Bro. James Rogers will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Gober Cemetery.

Mrs. Roberts passed away June 19, 2013, at Seven Oaks Nursing Home in Bonham.

Bertie Mae (Mankin) Roberts was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Leonard to Frank Polk and Vera (Kuhn) Mankin. Bertie married Douglas Wayne Roberts on June 22, 1946, in Bonham; he preceded her in death on May 15, 1999. Bertie was a teacher’s aide at Bonham ISD, was an active member of Gober Community Club, and a member of Gober Methodist Church.

She is survived by son Jerry Roberts and wife Jocille of Whitesboro, daughter Linda Calaway and husband Dicky of Duplex Community, son Mike Roberts and wife Diane of Commerce, daughter Kathy Justice and husband Terry of Weatherford, son Wes Roberts and wife Tracey of Bonham, and son Kenny Roberts of Gober. Bertie was Nanny to her 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Thomas Dale Roberts, granddaughter Emily Gibbs, three brothers, and two sisters.

Serving as pallbearers will be sons Mike Roberts, Wesley Roberts, and Kenny Roberts and grandsons Chad Roberts, Cody Sudderth, and Chance Roberts.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the present and past staff of The Woodmoore, and Seven Oaks Nursing Center for the excellent love and care shown to their mother.

Family visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Gober Baptist Church.

Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home of Bonham, 903-583-5555, is in charge of arrangements.
