Michael Beasley

GREENVILLE — Michael Don Beasley, 61, of Greenville passed away June 18, 2013, at Dallas Medical Center following a long illness. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kavanaugh United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Cotten officiating.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the family’s home.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born Oct. 14, 1951, in Greenville, Mike was the son of James Odell and Katie (Hall) Beasley. On Aug. 23, 1982, in Greenville, he married Barbara Gail Russell. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Garland High School and 1973 graduate of Texas A&M University-Commerce.

The past owner of Mike Beasley Auto Sales, he semi-retired in 2009 as general manager of Williams Motors after 40 years in auto sales and management. After his retirement, he enjoyed working part-time for Joe Gibson Automotive.

Mike enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren, travel, fine dining and cooking for large groups, especially family gatherings (everyday was a party). After retiring, he also had more time to enjoy his church and its programs until his illness kept him homebound.

Survivors include his wife, Gail of Greenville; son Russell Beasley and wife Jessica of Greenville; daughter Ellen Myers and husband Clint of Plano; grandchildren Sam and Ellen Myers of Plano and Luke Beasley of Greenville; and father-in-law Col. Hollis W. Russell of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
