Hewett Moseley

GREENVILLE — Hewett Leroy Moseley, 94, of Greenville passed away June 12, 2013 in Allen.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Gould and Rev. Gene Wisdom officiating. A military graveside service will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. 

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. 

Born Nov. 24, 1918, in Campbell, Hewett was the son of Guy Spurgeon Moseley and Rachel Elizabeth (Wade) Moseley. On Oct. 2, 1942, in Lone Oak, he married Charlean Marie Briggs. He served in the United States Army and was a retired independent insurance agent.

Through the years, Hewett was very active in community service. He was a former president of the board of directors of the Greenville Y.M.C.A., president of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, and director of the Advisory Board of the Greenville Salvation Army.

He was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where throughout the years he served on every committee within the church. 

His survivors include his son, Chuck H. Moseley and wife Peggy of Flower Mound; daughter Sheila Williamson and husband Jeff of McKinney; grandchildren Taryn Moseley of Lewisville, Chad Williamson of McKinney, Ben Moseley of Stillwater, Okla., and Carson Moseley of Flower Mound; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2003, brothers Linton and Bill Moseley, and sister Dorothy Beall.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Williamson, Chuck Moseley, Chad Williamson, Ben Moseley, Carson Moseley, Reggie Blake, G.C. Briggs, and Kenny Briggs

The family request memorials be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church “Within Reach” Building Fund at P.O. Box 864, Greenville, 75403-0864.
