Madie James

GREENVILLE — Madie Lee (Meme) James, 90, of Greenville died Feb. 17, 2014, at her residence.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Charlie Johnson and Rev. John Lee officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Little Mound Cemetery in Upshur County.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. James was born in Winnsboro on Oct. 31, 1923. She was the daughter of John Jay Johnson and Minnie Lee Howard Johnson. On June 16, 1940, she married William Dial James under an apple tree in East Texas.

She was a beautician and a member of Rosewood Baptist Church in Big Sandy and Generations Church in Rockwall.

Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Combest and Shelia Heller; sisters Lou Alexander and Johnny Faye Stewart; grandchildren John Henry, Terry Henry, Troy Henry and Kimberly Sanders; great-grandchildren Cody, Graham, Chandler, Cameron, Whitney, Summer, Stephanie, David, Ashley, Victoria, Morgan, Michael, Matthew, Brooke, Jordan, Nathan and Haley; and one great-great-grandchild on the way, Roman James. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dial James; parents; a granddaughter, Tracy Ann Henry; brothers Herman, Lenord and Doyle; and sisters, Rubyleen and Mary.

Pallbearers will be Cody Henry, Graham Henry, Chandler Henry, Andy Davis, Nathan Sanders, Morgan Henry, David Henry and Michael Henry.
