Charles Jenkins Jr.

Charles W. Jenkins Jr., 85, of Mesquite, passed away Jan. 27, 2014.

He was born June 29, 1928, in Davenport, Okla., to Charles Wesley Jenkins Sr., and Vida (Richie) Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins proudly served his country in both the U.S. Army and Navy, and was a contracts director in the defense industry until his retirement. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockwall.

Mr. Jenkins is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jo Jenkins of Mesquite; sons Charles Jenkins III and wife Patricia of Arlington, and Kevin Jenkins and wife Patty of Greenville; a daughter, Sandra Blackmon and husband John of Garland; grandchildren John Michael Blackmon and wife Julie, Kelly Stokes and husband Nathan, Casey Jackson, Amy Jenkins and husband Chris Brown, Ryan Jenkins, Natalie Bradley and husband Jeramy and Charles Jenkins IV; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Speck and husband Edward; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lee Jenkins.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 602 White Hills Drive, in Rockwall with Pastor Cheryl Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Memoryland Memorial Park, 808 W. Jack Finney Blvd, in Greenville. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the funeral from 12 to 1 p.m. Rest Haven Rockwall chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, to First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall or to the SPCA.
