Richard Lee Whytus, 83, of Greenville passed away Jan. 10, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Greater Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ in Greenville with Superintendent Michael Williams officiating. Burial will be in East Mount Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. Thursday at the church only. There will be no other viewing.
He was born July 4, 1930, in Greenville to Ruben and Janie Whytus. He married Bennie Mae Wesley on June 4, 2005, in Greenville.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired from maintenance work and was a member of Greater Rose of Sharon COGIC.
He is survived by his wife, Bennie Mae Whytus of Greenville; a son, Richard L. Whytus of Greenville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
