Wanda Wilkison

GREENVILLE — Wanda Edgerton Wilkison, 82, of Greenville, was called Home to Glory from Legends Healthcare on June 28, 2013.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hawbaker officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. today.

She was born Wanda La Nelle Fuller on July 15, 1930, to Edwin Fuller and Glenna Conyers Fuller in Annona. She spent her childhood in Annona and Tyler, and graduated from John Tyler High School. She married James Edgerton in 1954 and together they had three children.

She lived in several different states during their marriage, but never lost a yearning for her East Texas roots, finally settling in Greenville in 1972. She married Charles Wilkison on Dec. 4, 1982, and added a step-son and his family to the fold. She and Charles were married until his death in November 1999.

Wanda was one of the first employees hired by Wing Industries when they opened their Greenville plant in 1973. She continued working there until her retirement in 1993.

Wanda was a faithful member of Reavilon Baptist Church until her health limited her ability to attend.

She was a strong Christian and never missed an opportunity to witness to others. Her happiest moments were when she was taking care of others and spending time with her grandchildren.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Denise Edgerton Taylor and her husband, Billy; son, Larry Edgerton; step-son, Kyle Wilkison, and wife, Debra; grandchildren, Blake Taylor, Zakary Edgerton, Ashley Edgerton-Hailey, Mitch Leathers and Jenny Padgett; and five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Billy Fuller; sisters, Melba Lynch and Ann Hawbaker; and several nieces and nephews who were all very dear to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Wilkison; a daughter, Debbi Ann Edgerton; and a brother, James Fuller.

Serving as pallbearers are Blake Taylor, Zakary Edgerton, Kevin Hawbaker, Dale Hawbaker, Kyle Wilkison and Mitch Leathers. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Fuller, Billy Wayne Fuller and Larry Fuller.

The family asks that memorials be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association in lieu of flowers.
