Linda Oaks

Linda Jean Bennett Warren Oaks passed away peacefully in her home June 23, 2014. She was a loving and kind mother, sister, wife and friend to many who will deeply mourn the loss of her beautiful soul. She will foremost be remembered for the unyielding, unconditional love she offered freely to all.

Lin was born Dec. 26, 1941, in Greenville. She attended Greenville High School and studied literature at University of Texas, Dallas. She lived life with vigor and a deep reverence for God and his creation.

Many sought Lin’s company for her ability to listen, empathize and extend her understanding attention to everyone’s joys, sorrows, and issues without judgment.

Lin cherished literature, and she herself delved elegantly into the art form in numerous ways.

She is survived by her husband, BR Duncan; her son, Jeff Warren and daughter-in-law Dianne, including three grandchildren, Savannah, William and Neal; and her daughter, Jennifer Warren Kubik with granddaughter Hannah Rose.

Lin also leaves behind her sister, Sherry Mulkey, and brother Don Bennett and their families, and longtime friends who have been significant in her life and experiences.

The family is incredibly grateful to Vitas Hospice and their Greenville team under nurse Jennifer Bradshaw.

Her graveside service is at 10 a.m. today at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rev. Gene Wisdom and Rev. Paul Gould officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to American Lung Association, or Lung Cancer Research Foundation at

Pallbearers will be Glenn Kubik, David Mulkey, Cole Mulkey, Neal Warren, Mark Bennett and William Warren.
