Dewey Fitzpatrick Jr.

GREENVILLE — Dewey Fitzpatrick Jr., 89, of Greenville died July 14, 2013, at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. William’s Catholic Church, 4200 Stuart Street in Greenville, with Father Paul Weinberger officiating. Burial will be at East Mount Cemetery.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home. A Rosary is scheduled at 6 p.m. today in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel, with a viewing and any remarks being made at that time.

Born April 25, 1924, in Pine Bluff, Ark., he was the son of Dewey and Maud Fitzpatrick. He married Goldie Scott on Dec. 22, 1941, in Palestine, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army. Dewey retired from his business, The Spare Rib, where he served and was well known for his barbecue for many years. He was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the NAACP.

Surviving are his wife, Goldie Fitzpatrick, of Greenville; three sons, Dewey J. Fitzpatrick III (Linda) of Richardson, John David Fitzpatrick (Frances) of Richardson and Robert L. Fitzpatrick (Andrua) of Illinois; four daughters, Annie M. Haynes of Greenville, Janice Brodie (Lyma) of Orlanda, Fla., Rosie Lee Dennis (Jerry) of Athens, Texas, and Manette F. Bracy of Greenville; two brothers, David Oakley Fitzpatrick of San Antonio and Phelton L. Fitzpatrick of Las Vegas, Nev.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

His parents, three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 7438 or to the St. William’s Catholic Church  Women’s Guild to continue their charitable work.
