Harold Bird

GREENVILLE — Harold Lloyd Bird, 84, of Greenville passed away Dec. 9, 2013.

He was born Sept. 3, 1929, to Gus Ramond and Evelyn Stovall Bird.

Harold proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was in the 40th Infantry Division and drove a tanker during battle. He was there until the war ended.

He was baptized  and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.

In Greenville he served on the Hunt County Appraisal District Board. He was a member of the Southwest Chapter of Missouri Fox Trotter Association where he held several positions. He raised and showed horses for more than 10 years.

Harold baled hay for the public for the past several years and managed the Little Creek Ranch for Dr. Asef Syed and family of Dallas.

Harold is survived by his wife of 60-plus years, Faye Bird; sons Harold Lloyd Bird Jr. of Crosby and David W. Bird and wife Jana; grandchildren Shaae Bird and wife Jamie of Greenville, Heather Nicole Bird and fiancé Sterling Fogarty, and Holli Meno and husband Nick of Cheyenne Wyo.; great-grandchildren Parker and Payton Bird and Sylar Meno; sisters Judy Evelyn Leach, Dorothy Nell and husband Bill Jeffery, Connie and husband Gale Galloway; a brother, Sam Bird; nephew Jim Winsett and wife Kate; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Ann Simpson, Georgie Fay Steakley and Shirley Gene Bird; and brothers Joe Ramon Bird and Nathan Jefferson Bird.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Lynch Funeral Service chapel with Bro. Terry Blankenship and Bro. Jeff Bishop presiding. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Shaae Bird, Bennie Bird, Ray Bird, Jim Winsett, Kyle Gibson, and Paul David Tilton.
