Dorothy “Grannie Dot” Johnson, 84, of Greenville passed away July 2, 2013, at Medical Center of McKinney. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Mr. Kenny Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born Nov. 26, 1928, in Manchester, England, Dorothy was the daughter of George and Mary Emma (White) Gandy. On Sept. 7, 1950, in Manchester, England, she married Emmett D. “Joe” Johnson. She was a retired seamstress from Haggar Mfg., and she attended Highland Terrace Baptist Church. She was involved in many charities.
Her survivors include her son, Philip Johnson and wife Anita of Caddo Mills; daughter Lynne Johnson of Greenville; grandchildren Candlelynn Coats and husband Greg of Greenville, Amber Johnson and husband Jeff of Caddo Mills, and John Johnson of Dallas; great-grandchildren Julie, Alan and Jeremy Johnson of Caddo Mills, and Camden, Christian and Kimber Coats of Greenville; sister Renee Lukes of Manchester, England; niece Sharon Hoyle and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2003, and daughter Renee Johnson in 1954.
Pallbearers will be Philip Johnson, John Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Greg Coats and Kenny Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Camden Coats, and Christian Coats.
