Jackie Houser

ROYSE CITY — Wendell Jackie Houser, 72, of Royse City passed away April 20, 2014. 

He was born Aug. 23, 1941, in Royse City to Jake and Vera Houser. Jackie proudly served his country in the National Guard from September 1964 until December 1969.

He retired as director of Distribution for Safeway, Inc. after 36 years of service.

Jackie was a member of the Royse City Masonic Lodge, Dallas Scottish Rite, Hella Shrine Temple Black Horse Patrol and First United Methodist Church of Royse City.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Ann Houser; daughters Tiffany Ann Edmonson and husband Kelly, and Amber Merriman and husband Casey; grandchildren: Brayden Jack Merriman, Ainsley Grace Merriman and Jordan Elise Edmonson, all of Royse City;  sisters Lynn Cooper and husband Jim of Caddo Mills,  Betty Mallewick of Greenville, and Vicki Payne and husband Mac of Caddo Mills; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Weldon Houser; sister Joy Moore; and grandparents A.B. and Minnie Houser.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at First United Methodist Church, 305 N. Josephine (Highway 66 and Josephine), in Royse City with Pastor Tim Marks officiating.  Entombment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. 

The family will receive friends today at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Royse City chapel, 141 W. Main Street, in Royse City, from 6 to 8 p.m.
