Opal Swindell


GREENVILLE — Opal Faye Swindell, 94, of Greenville died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Street Church of Christ under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Randy Daw and Brandon Watson will officiate. Interment will be in Memoryland Memorial Park. 

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Swindell was born in Hunt County on Oct. 26, 1919. She was the daughter of George Oscar Frasier and Annie Laura Marshall Frasier. On Dec. 30, 1939, she married R.L. (Buck) Swindell in Hunt County.

She was the owner of Opal’s Beauty Box. She was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her sisters, Iva Tibbles and husband Walt of Mesquite and Martha Underwood of Mesquite; a grandson, Steven Brantley; and numerous nephews and nieces. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Swindell; a son, Ted Swindell; parents; sisters Azlea Taylor, Lillian White and Bertha Huddleston; and brothers J.D. Frasier, Hillyerd Frasier, Basil Frasier, Willie Swanner, Troy Frasier, Dallas Frasier, Coy B. Frasier, Clovis Frasier and Roy Frasier.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Frasier, Glenn Cooksy, Mark Franklin, Dan Frasier, Jeff Frasier and Ray Ragan. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Frasier, Kenneth Frasier, Larry Busby, Randy Frasier and Chuck underwood.
