Bessie Strickland

GREENVILLE — Bessie Mae Strickland, 82, of Greenville passed away Oct. 24, 2012, at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at Celeste Cemetery.  

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born Sept. 26, 1930, in Floyd, Bessie was the daughter of Roy and Willie Lou (Davenport) Wilson. She grew up in the Floyd community and graduated from Floyd High School. She worked as an attendant at the Pythian Guest House.

Her survivors include her sons, Rickey Hise and wife Ann of Greenville and Harold Ray Hise of Redmon Washington; daughter Vickie Hackney of Marion, S.D.; brother Albert Wilson and wife Elvira of Garland; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Don Wilson, and sisters Della Woods and Margaret Hicks.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Hise, Scott Hise, Brad Hise, Dean Clites, Mitch Chesne, Michael Sheets and Wade Sheets.
