Dennis Cole Shaw, 81 of Celeste, formerly of Richardson, passed away May 27, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Higher Trails Cowboy Church, 5544 FM 903 in Celeste with Rev. Randy Bird, Rev. Jim Sherwin, and Rev. Richard Jackson officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Frankford Cemetery in Dallas.
Funeral services are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Dennis was born in Dallas on Oct. 11, 1932, to Clarence E. and Mable A. Cole Shaw. On Nov. 29, 1956, he married Wanda Willhoite in Grapevine. Dennis was a veteran who served with the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a federal probation and parole officer until his retirement.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Wanda; son Russell W. Shaw and wife Elesha; a daughter, Lori D. Shaw Sleeth and husband Tom; sister Marguerite White; grandchildren Ryan and wife Haylea, Jonathan, Lindsey, Emily, Christopher, Cody, Michael, and Kelli; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan, and Holden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis Shaw Jr.; sister Cora Gunn; and a brother, Clarence E. Shaw Jr.
Pallbearers will be Collin Clark, Ed Dardaganian, Garvis Green, J.D. James, Gene Martin, Jerry Minter, Ed Reyna, and Don Wooten. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Atkins, Leon Graham, Howard Harris, Mac McDowell, John O’Neal, Jerry Stults, Weldon Wright and the retired probation officers.
