Grace Johnson

GREENVILLE — Grace Lee Johnson, 95, of Greenville passed away Dec. 12, 2013.

She was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Hope, Ark., to Virgil and Lettie Strayhorn. She married Alva Lewis Johnson on June 17, 1947. Grace was a sales manager for Stanley Home Products for many years.

 She began her career in the 1950s and lived in Dallas and later Shreveport, La., before she and her husband retired in Greenville. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cash and a member of the Homemakers Extension Club.

She enjoyed canning, quilting, painting and music. Grace entered many items in the Hunt County Fair.

She is survived by her daughter, Jaclyn Jendrek of Greenville; two sisters, Mary Gossett of Greenville and Ethyl Miller of Garland; grandson James Talmon of Greenville; great-grandchildren Amanda Luellen of Commerce, Jeffrey Talmon of Commerce, Andrea Talmon of Houston and Bethany Talmon of Greenville; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Johnson, who passed away in 2012, and brothers Carl, Buddy, and Junior Strayhorn.

Funeral service today at 11 a.m. at Lynch Funeral Service with Bro. Larry Combs presiding. Interment will follow the service at Simmons Cemetery.
