James “Jim” Elliott, formerly of Greenville, passed away due to natural causes on Oct. 15, 2013, at his home in Mililani, Hawaii.
Jim was born in Hoxie, Ark., in 1936 and married Helen Christine Burks in 1957. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and was employed by E-Systems until his retirement.
He was a current member of Bethel Bible Church in Wahiawa, Hawaii, and a former member of Greenville Bible Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of Mililani; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kathy Elliott of Mililani; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Jessica and Blane Wagatsuma of Mililani; grandson Joshua Elliott of Mililani; great-granddaughter Jada Yoshiko Wagatsuma of Mililani; daughter and son-in-law Denise and Hector Marin of Palm City, Fla.; his sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and James Grissom of Hot Springs, Ark.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Annette Burks of Weatherford; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lois Bakkum; and his niece, Daina Burks Hall.
Jim’s ashes will be buried in Hot Springs, Ark.
A homegoing celebration will be at 2 p.m., Dec. 8, at Greenville Bible Church.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to the PET Project (Philippine Evangelism Training Project), a ministry in which Jim was heavily involved by sending donations to Bethel Bible Church, 1106 Kilani Ave., Wahiawa, Hawaii 96786.
