Mike Newland

Mike Newland, 68, of Greenville was freed from the shackles of our world as he took the hand of his Lord and Savior on Oct. 9, 2013. His eight-year, hard-fought battle against leukemia came to an end as he peacefully went home.

Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a young man and, although his worldly flesh grew weary, he found a way to continue his service by joining the Patriot Guard Riders in recent years.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Ruby; daughter Teresa Knox of Los Gatos, Calif.; daughter Cherice Newland of Balch Springs; son Mike Newland and wife Kim of Dallas, and grandchildren CJ Tranter, Shelby Tranter, Brody Newland, Ronan Knox and Mackenzie Newland.

Those who knew and loved Mike are invited to join in the celebration of his life at 10 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013. Services will be at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Greenville.
