Golda Cooper

GREENVILLE — Golda Marie Cooper died Jan. 18, 2013, at Briarcliff Nursing Home; she was 96 years old.

A longtime teacher in the Greenville public schools, she influenced many with her love of learning and literature.

Golda had a big personality and a sharp sense of humor. She was outgoing and collected a huge group of devoted friends from all walks of life.

Her faith was strong, and she knew the Bible well, quoting verses word for word. She was equally proficient in remembering and reciting poetry. Golda was born near Holdenville, Okla., on April 24, 1916. She lived through the Great Depression and was in Honolulu when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Although reticent, she had many stories to tell about her life and times.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her dearest friend, a grandson, and her husband, Horace B Cooper.

She is survived by daughters Margaret Allyson and Martha Smith, son Michael Cooper, and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Aldersgate Church in Greenville on Feb. 2 at 1:30 p.m.

Lynch Funeral Service of Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help those less fortunate, including animals.

Online condolences may be made at www.lynchfuneralservice.com and www.heraldbanner.com.
