GREENVILLE — Carole Lynn Kees Sampson (Carolina Sunshine) passed away peacefully the night of Feb. 2, 2014, at home.

She lived with her daughter, Leslie and her family, in the arms of love for the last years of her life. They praise the Lord that she is finally truly home in heaven.

She was born May 14 (Mother’s day), 1933, in Montebello, Calif., but was raised in Greenville. Her mother and father, Benton and Pauline Graham Kees, ran the Gin Stand, a grocery store/gas station on west Lee Street for many years.  Carole Lynn and her sister, Bette Benton, worked at the store as well.

She married David Andrew Sampson March 18, 1952. They have three daughters, Steffani Lynn Lose, Christina Elizabeth Styles and Leslie Maria England. In her life, she took great comfort and happiness from her many dogs.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Rocky Crockett; her sisters and her husband, David.

She leaves behind many people who loved and adored her — daughters and husbands Steff and Rick Lose of Austin, Chris and Ray Styles of Austin, and Leslie and Roger England of Greenville; grandkids and spouses Richard and Sarah England, Zachary Reeder, Sarah and Michael Lynton, Collin and Beth Styles, Camille and Adam Moore and great-granddaughter Phoebe, Rebekah Powell, Samuel England, Molly and Adam Kendrick and Boone Powell;  niece and nephews and spouses Melanie and Roger Jones, Joey Newberry, and Cole and Linda Newberry; and many cousins and relatives.

There will be a time of homecoming and visiting for family and friends at 3 p.m., Feb. 15, at Leslie and Roger’s home. All are welcome.
