Tommy Gardner

WOLFE CITY — Tommy Weldon Gardner entered into eternal peace on Aug. 29, 2013. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family at his home in Wolfe City.

Tommy was born Dec. 30, 1926, and raised in Wolfe City where he attended school except when he was skipping to go to the sale barn, which he fell in love with. He happily spent 70 years in the cattle business. Tommy served his country in WWII and the Korean War, but he was most proud of his family and cattle operation.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Charlsie Gardner; his daughter, Patty Herron; sons Larry Gardner, Danny Gardner and wife Elaine, Tommy Jr. Gardner, and Mike Gardner and wife Sheila; grandchildren Cary Herron and wife Amy, Cody Herron and wife Kim, Curt Herron, Josh Gardner, Kelly Wilson and husband Zach, Randi Jones and husband TJ, Dawn Simmons  and husband Chad, Teri Cawthon and husband Alex, Misti Gardner, Jeremy Gardner and wife Rose, Amanda Gable, Jeff Leaton and wife Amy,  Maci Allen, Madison Gardner, William Ukrainetz, Ryan Ukrainetz, and Casey Ukrainetz; and great-grandchildren Cassidy Herron, Carson Herron, Cayden Herron, Chris Herron, Jesse Gardner, Josie Gardner, Kaylee Giles, Mark Gable, Elizabeth Gardner, Matthew Gardner, CJ Simmons, Cortni Simmons, Chelsie Simmons, Chloe Simmons, Noah Jones, Maison Jones, and Kellen Cawthon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Estella Goodwin Gardner and Lennis Mitchell Gardner; three sisters, Betty Crowell, Christine Cheek and Anna Melrose Stultz; son-in-law Dwayne Herron; daughter-in-law Janet Gardner; grandchild Mackenzie Gardner; and great-grandchildren Parker and Grayson Jones.

Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today at R.W. Owens and Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City. Interment follows at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Cary Herron, Cody Herron, Curt Herron, Josh Gardner, Zach Wilson, Jeremy Gardner, Jeff Leaton, TJ Jones, Chad Simmons, Alex Cawthon, William Ukrainetz, and Ryan Ukrainetz serving as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice for the special care of their dad.
