Brent Matlack

GREENVILLE — Brent Burdette Matlack, 53, of Greenville passed away June 4, 2013, at his residence. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Jordan and Rev. Gary Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Born Dec. 28, 1959, in Alton, Ill., Brent was the son of Marvin Matlack Sr. and Alice Hunt Matlack. On Oct. 28, 1989, in Greenville, he married Brenda Harp.  Brent was a railroad foreman working for the Katy and Union Pacific Railroads for 32 years and was a member of the Maintenance of Way Employees Union. He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.  

He is survived by his wife, parents, sons Joshua and Trenton Matlack, daughter Sara Matlack, mother- and father-in-law Annelle and Lee R. Harp Jr., brother Marvin Matlack Jr.and fiancé Karen Nelson, sisters Kisoe Matlack Korte and Linda Matlack Fellars and husband Dr. Richard Fellars, brothers-in-law Randy Harp and wife Denise and Bill Harp and wife Amber, and many nieces and nephews including special nephew Garry Korte.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. Joyce Hunt, Doris Hunt, Norene Matlack, Cora Matlack, and Charles O. Matlack Sr., and uncles Don Hunt and Ed Purdy.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Jones, John Turner, Mark Davies, Mike Gibson, Steve Frazier, and Carlos Sepulveda.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Highland Terrace Baptist Church children and youth camp funds at 3939 Joe Ramsey Blvd., Greenville, Texas  75402.
