Marie Miles

GREENVILLE — Marie C. Miles finished her life’s journey on Nov. 27, 2013, in Arlington.

Marie Caroline Koller was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Dallas to Andrew J. and Irene Krider Koller. She graduated from Forest Avenue High School in Dallas in 1943 and attended Draughn’s Business College.

Marie married Haskell A. Laird in 1951. After his passing, she married James Weldon Miles.

Marie was a longtime employee of E-Systems of Greenville, having transferred from LTV in Grand Prairie in 1962. Marie loved her job at E-Systems and all of the wonderful people with whom she worked until her retirement in the mid-’80s.  Marie loved Greenville and its friendly atmosphere and found it a good place to raise a family.

After retirement, she traveled extensively throughout the United States until moving to a retirement center in Arlington in 2007.

She is survived by her son, Steve Laird and wife Pat of Fort Worth, and three grandchildren, Kristin, Mark, and Shannon Laird. Marie is also survived by her daughter, Teresa Benefield and husband Floyd of Sulphur Springs.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, James, and her sister, Katherine Marino of Dallas.

Funeral service are at  2 p.m. today in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with internment to follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Father Paul Weinberger will be officiating. Visitation is from noon until service time at the funeral home.
