Travis Gene Morrison, 65 of Greenville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at the Red River Regional hospital in Bonham.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Travis was born to Fletcher Travis and Imogene Hayes Morrison in Greenville on June 13, 1948. He graduated from Bland High School in 1966. Travis married Cherie Porter on Oct. 3, 1970 in Greenville. He served his country serving in the U. S. Army where he was awarded the Silver Star and a Purple Heart along with other medals. He worked for 33 years with the United States Postal Service until his retirement. He was a member of the Floyd Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of Greenville; son, Greg Morrison of Merit; sister, Priscilla Adams of Greenville; mother-in-law, Nelda Porter of Greenville, sister-in-law, Shelia Petty and husband Terry of Cash; brother-in-laws, James Porter and wife Anna of Mesquite and Rick Porter of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-laws, Thurman Adams, Joe Porter and father-in-law, J. C. Porter.
Pallbearers will be Bud Weston, Gary Douglas, John Michael Milton, Rick Porter, Jon White, Jim Blew. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Petty, Billy Don Causey, James Porter, and Dwayne Dicken.
