CADDO MILLS — Ruby Pearl Thomason entered the gates of heaven Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, after 99 years lived abundantly.

She was born May 10, 1914, to Lewis and Bessie Jones.  She married Ross Thomason on Dec. 22, 1933.

Ruby, affectionately known as “Mama Tom” by her friends and family, is survived by her children, Bobby and Judi Thomason of Wagner, Sammy and Sherry Thomason of Cash, Brenda and Phil Castle of Caddo Mills and Jimmy and Suzanne Thomason of Caddo Mills; and grandchildren, Cecilia and Gerald Bogan of Lewisville,  Bobby Ross and Stacie Thomason of Trophy Club, Julie and Scott Decker of Quinlan, Todd and Erin Bethea of Houston, Jamie and Deaundra Bethea of Caddo Mills, Jay and Shara Thomason of Caddo Mills and Tony and Jennifer Thomason of Caddo Mills; 14 great-grandchildren;  three great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her cat, Kathy.

Those gone before her include her mother and father, an infant brother, her husband Ross, sister, Lois and many family members and friends that she held dear.

Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.  After her kids were grown she worked for a number of years for Payne’s Grocery in Caddo Mills.  Ruby cherished the memories of her time there.  Later she had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States with various senior citizen groups.  She loved to recall the beautiful country she had seen and the people she had met.

Ruby was a faithful member of Caddo Mills Church of Christ.  As she loved her family and friends, she loved her God and His church.  If you had happened to enter her back door, you would probably have found her in her chair reading her Bible

Ruby never drove. After Ross passed away, members of the Caddo Mills Church of Christ and Caddo Mills Senior Citizens served as her personal valets.  The family would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one who were so faithful to pick Ruby up or return her home from some church, senior citizen or community event.

The family invites you to join them in a celebration of the life of “Mama Tom” during visitation from 6-8 p.m. today at Lynch Funeral Home, Caddo Mills.  A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Caddo Mills Church of Christ with Ray Hunter officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Thomason, Jack Pendleton, Merle Pendleton, Dusty Payne, Tony Burchett and Mike Carrell.

Interment will follow immediately at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills.
