Lone Oak residents will soon have another opportunity to meet with city council and Lone Oak Independent School District candidates.
A meet-and-greet event, sponsored by the Lone Oak Merchant’s Group, has been scheduled for Saturday at the pavilion in the town square. The event is slated to begin at 6 p.m., and will not feature a moderated question-and-answer forum.
“We want a friendly atmosphere,” said organizer Dorothy Miller.
David Sumrall and Michael Barrow are facing off for the Place 1 seat on the city council. Neil Dent, Misty Lutz and Kandi Burchett are seeking the Place 2 seat. Mona Collins and Shane Stovall are competing for the Place 3 seat. Gordon Galloway is the only candidate for Place 5.
There are four people seeking two seats on the Lone Oak ISD Board of Trustees. Incumbents Terry Gipson and Wayne Burton are seeking re-election, while challengers are Jeremy McClanahan and Paul Kelley.
Early voting began Monday and runs through May 5 at the Hunt County Voter Administration Office, located at 2217 Washington Street in Greenville.
According to Miller, the event will last as long as people wish to speak with the candidates. Hot dogs and light refreshments will be served.

Those seeking more information can contact Miller at 903-662-5109 or 903-662-5584.
