Voters will have a chance in May to cast ballots and elect representatives to three spots on the Greenville City Council.
Filing begins Monday for the May 9 municipal election will decide who gets to sit in the Mayor’s seat and in Places 5 and 6 on the Council.
Mayor Tom Oliver is completing his first full term and has announced he is seeking re-election.
Place 5 Council member Bryan Herrin and Place 6 Council member Betty Franklin are completing unexpired terms which they won in a special election last year and are also eligible to seek another term on the Council. Neither have yet announced whether they intend to seek re-election.
The official start of filing for the election is Saturday, although City of Greenville offices are closed, so local filing will begin Monday and continue weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through March 9 at the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street. Early voting is scheduled between April 27 and May 5.
