Multiple aggravated assault indictments returned

GREENVILLE — The Hunt County grand jury returned multiple indictments Friday, involving alleged incidents of aggravated assaults with deadly weapons during the past year.

A Greenville man was alleged to have attacked someone with a brick, another local resident was accused of threatening multiple victims with a crow bar and a Louisiana man was charged with using a knife in an assault from late last year.

The panel met one week earlier than normal, to avoid a conflict with the Thanksgiving Day holiday and returned 66 indictments, including 23 indictments issued sealed pending the arrest and arraignment of the person or persons named in the charges.

The current grand jury is set to complete its term of issuing indictments in felony cases for consideration by the 354th District Court next month. A new grand jury will be seated in January to begin a six month term of serving the 196th District Court.

— Anthony Tyrone Davis Jr., 19, of Greenville, received one indictment for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Davis was alleged to have hit a male victim with a brick on September 24.

— Rodney Allen Wade, 45, of Greenville, received three indictments for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Wade was alleged to have used a crow bar to threaten three people on August 18.

— James Earl Labit, 36, of Lafayette, La., received one indictment for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Labit was alleged to have used a knife during an Dec. 27, 2011 assault, during which a female victim was hit and choked.
