Oregon man pleads guilty to child pornography

GREENVILLE — An Oregon man has been sentenced to a lengthy term in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges of possessing child pornography.

A jury trial was underway in the 196th District Court in the case of Aaron Stephen Gebo, also known as Aaron Stephen Gevo, when Gebo decided to plead guilty Wednesday afternoon.

Gebo, 39, of Eugene, Ore., had received 10 indictments from the Hunt County grand jury on charges of possession of child pornography and remains in custody at the Hunt County Jail.

The indictments alleged Gebo possessed 10 separate images of child pornography on his laptop computer on Oct. 25, 2011.

One of the indictments had been dismissed before the start of trial Monday. On Wednesday, Gebo pleaded guilty to four of the charges and the remaining five indictments were dismissed under a plea bargain arrangement.

Each of the charges were filed as third-degree felonies, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from two to 10 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.

Gebo was sentenced to the maximum 10 years in prison on each of the charges.

Judge Steve Tittle then ordered each of the sentences to run consecutively, meaning Gebo will have to complete serving one of the sentences before starting the next one. Gebo was also fined $1,200.

Gebo had a previous conviction listed on the indictments, for first degree sexual abuse, from Lane County, Ore. in 2002.
