New Years Day closings announced

GREENVILLE — Many government employees will start 2013 with an extra day off, as city and county offices close for the New Years Day holiday.

City of Greenville offices and the Library will be closed Tuesday. For after-hours utility emergencies, citizens may call 903-457-2948.

Hunt County offices will be closed on the same schedule.

IESI will not collect garbage or recycling on Tuesday. Garbage normally collected that day will be collected on the next regular pick-up day.

Residential recycling and commercial garbage collections will run one day behind. Live Christmas trees may be placed at the curb on the second garbage collection day each week for free collection by IESI. Ornaments, tinsel, and lights must be removed.

Federal government offices will be closed Tuesday, as will Senior Center Resources and Public Transit.

The business offices and the editorial department of the Herald-Banner will be closed Tuesday.
