It is going to look a lot more like Christmas, starting tonight, in Greenville.
The 22nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled this evening in front of the Police and Courts facility, 3000 Lee Street downtown.
Activities begin at 5:30 p.m., as the Greenville Parks and Recreation Department will be offering free Christmas ornament decorating and refreshments as well as horse-drawn carriage rides. The Tree Lighting ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m.
Mayor Steve Reid will present his holiday welcome before throwing the switch to light the 30-foot Balsam fir. The event is also expected to include Christmas carolers and a visit from Santa Claus.
Following the Tree Lighting will be the Whistle Stop at the Depot, at Petticoat Junction inside the Katy Depot, 3102 Lee Street. Visitors can warm up with hot cider or coffee and meet with Santa.
