GREENVILLE — The official low overnight at Majors Field, the City of Greenville Municipal Airport, dipped to 34 degrees, just shy of reaching the freezing mark.
It was the second time this season that the temperature had fallen to 34 degrees locally, with Greenville getting another chance to record its first freeze overnight tonight.
After a high of around 59 degrees this afternoon, the temperature is forecast to fall to 28 degrees by early Tuesday morning. Currently, the National Weather Service has not listed Hunt County under any frost or freeze warnings.
The first freeze in Greenville last year came on November 28 and on November 6 in 2010. The first freeze locally in 2009 didn’t arrive until December 6.
The National Weather Service reported that the average first freeze in the North Texas area is November 22, with the average last freeze on March 13.
