Taste of Hollywood in city?

GREENVILLE — Greenville will get a little taste of Hollywood this weekend, as it plays host to a special showing of a movie filmed in the area.

“Beyond the Farthest Star,” a movie written and directed by Andrew Librizzi and starring Cherami Leigh, Renee O’Connor and Todd Terry, was shot in Dallas, Hunt and Fannin counties.

Stars from the movie, including O’Connor, are expected to attend a meet-and-greet event at the Bel Aire Sports Grill, 5200 Interstate 30 in Greenville, following Saturday night’s showing at the Majestic 12 theater.

According to the movie’s Facebook page — www.facebook.com/beyondthemovie — the theater has scheduled a 7 p.m. Saturday showing.

The official web site for the movie said “Beyond the Farthest Star”, rated PG-13, tells the story of  “Pastor Adam Wells, a minister driven by the prospect of achieving greatness as the next nationally syndicated TV Evangelist who must decide whether to give up his opportunity at “celebrity” and, even his own life, in order to become something even greater… A loving husband and father to his wife and daughter.”

Rockwall’s Amber Carrington, who was a top five finalist on NBC’s singing competition The Voice, will make a cameo appearance in the film.

For every ticket sold for the Greenville theater, $1 will be donated to the Leonard Toys for Tots program..

The City of Leonard was one of the locations used in the movie, which was shot in 2010.

More information about the movie and a trailer is available at www.beyondthefartheststar.com.
