Chobani recalls Greek yogurt cups

GREENVILLE — Chobani, an New York-based company, has voluntarily recalled batches of their Greek yogurt cups, some of which has been sold in Texas.

Customers are encouraged to check their yogurt. The yogurt has a best by date from Sept. 11, 2013 to Oct. 7, 2013, or has the IMS number of 16-012, customers should discard and contact the Chobani customer loyalty team at chobani.com/care or call them from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET at 877-847-6181 to get replacements or refunds.

The company identified mold in a small portion of their product from their Iowa facility, according to a press release posted on their website. A full list of affected products can be found in a link at www.chobani.com.

In an interview with USA Today, Chobani CEO Hamid Ulukaya said that the number of individuals who had become ill as a result was “not in the hundreds for thousands.”

Whether batches of the recalled yogurt have been sold in Hunt County is unknown, although some local residents have complained about their yogurt. Brookshire’s corporate office noted that some of the yogurt had been sold in their stores and directed customers to the Chobani website for details.
