UPDATE: Alleged shooter in critical condition awaiting surgery

GREENVILLE — The Texas Department of Public Safety has released updated information concerning last night's shooting and chase.

According to DPS spokesman Kyle Bradford, former Hunt County Constable Anthony Dewayne Lewis, who was alleged to have shot two people at The Harbor in Rockwall, prior to a chase along Interstate 30 which ended with his being shot in a gun battle near the Monty Stratton Parkway in Greenville, is in critical condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

"I believe he is awaiting surgery," Bradford said.

A female victim at The Harbor was killed in the shooting, although there are conflicting reports concerning a male victim of the shooting. Although some media outlets have reported the individual had died, Bradford said, "the last information I had was that he is in stable condition." Bradford was not aware to which hospital the male victim had been transported.

An additional update concerning the incident is expected later today.
