— Thomas Fry, crime analyst and computer technician for the Rockwall Police Department since 2005, joined the City of Royse City staff on May 6 as senior project manager.

The senior project manager is a new position, approved by the city council last month after a recommendation by City Manager Carl Alsabrook.

Fry’s duties will include providing assistance in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and evaluating municipal projects.

The city manager said this is the second time he has hired Fry.

Alsabrook was an administrative lieutenant for the Rockwall Police Department when he hired Fry in 2005 for the crime analyst and computer technician job.

Fry was “Civilian of the Year” in 2006 for the police department.

Before he became a police department employee, Fry served a one-year internship in the Rockwall city manager’s office in 2004.

He also has prior experience as an intern for Fujitsu Network Communications.

The 32-year-old Fry has two degrees from the University of Texas at Dallas — a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a master’s degree in public affairs.

He is also a graduate of Rowlett High School.

Fry and his wife, Lisa, are the parents of three children — Abigail, 9, Isabella, 2, and Andrew, 1.

They have been Royse City residents since 2007.
